I'm wanting to put down 2.0-2.5 lbs of 21-0-0 AS per 1k (2 gallons of carrier) on Sunday since we're supposed to get rain on Monday. I'm a little concerned at that high of a rate AS will burn the lawn without being watered in immediately due to my irrigation already being winterized. I've used 1lb of AS per 1k (2 gallons of carrier) without any burn during 70-80 degree temps. Temps will be in the 50's to 60's the next few days. Is there any concern with burn at that rate with these temperatures or should I use more carrier?

AS at rates over 0.2 lbs N/1000 k has a high risk of burn if not watered in immediately. If spreading, it is safe at up to 1 lb N/1000. I would not spray 0.4 lb N/1000 of AS without watering it in immediately, but if you can it is pretty safe at that rate. Increasing carrier rate will increase safety, but not enough to offset the high rate unless it is enough carrier to wash it into the soil.
