Am I too late to kill clover and broadleaf weeds? I'm in Buffalo, N.Y. weather is trending down into the cooler temps.. 50s during the day 40s at night, lot of rain coming. Looking to use Ortho Weed B Gon or something similar.

I just sprayed some Weed b gon clover killer yesterday on Mallow in new grass. It already looks like it's wilting. I'm a little south of you , Delaware, though. I think you'll be alright.

I'm in Buffalo too. Are we going to have a dry enough day to apply it next week? thought the forecast was calling for a drizzle every day.

If the weeds are actively growing, then it is ok. Otherwise it will be a waste of time/herbicide. Once you start getting frosts, I find that the broadleaf (dandelions) don't die.

Good to know I may be able to still use it. I ended up getting the Bayer, it claims its rain proof after 1 hour.

Also worth noting the formulation of your weed killers come into effect. Most average consumer herbicides are amine formulations. These lose effectiveness as temperatures drop.

So it depends on what you want to do. If you wait until spring when temps go back up your apps will be more effective. If you do it now you have an increased chance of getting a partial kill and may need a follow up app. Plus, assuming you're using triclopyr, it often requires multiple apps anyway (clover can be stubborn), at which point you might be in frost season.

Fall is a great time, just like our lawns the weeds are pushing nutrients to their roots for winter.

I sprayed mine 2 days ago with 2-4D and dicamba. The weeds are all waded up.

Life has gotten in the way of me spraying my clover infestation in the backyard. We had a pretty good frost last night but temps are supposed to be in the 60's this weekend and I am wondering if I should attempt to go after the clover or not. Any thoughts.. I'm thinking the CCO is cheap enough, might as well try, even if I dont get all of it..
