Sometimes I have random thoughts, read an interesting white paper, or snap a photo pertaining to the greatness of Cynodon, and I don't quite know where it would be appropriate to share. So I figured we'd could create a safe space for all things Bermuda, all the time, right now.

I saw this today, appears to be common Bermuda that's growing in a broken sand filter that's about 6 feet deep. Edited to add, yes the sides are concrete.

If you look closely you'll see it's flexing and yelling to some Saint Augustine in the distance "hey, try this"

Yukon Bermuda coming out of dormancy and competing with common Bermuda and St. Augustine in a small "test plot" I have on the side of the house. You can see the color difference and leave thickness and stolon density side by side.

Have you found that Yukon Bermuda Stolons and common Bermuda stolons are virtually indistinguishable. The leaves of both are very wide on the stolon. Only the internodes are closer and stolon stalk slightly thicker. Weird but when the plant matures the leaves are significantly finer and darker in color. I pulled up a bunch of (what I thought was common Bermuda ) during my renovation just to find out that I shot myself in the foot. One of my many mistakes last year.

You know, I see a lot of variation in common, even in my little test plot here. There's even variation in the Yukon. And yes sometimes I have a hard time telling which is which, but I know where it is only common, and I know where I put the Yukon, and on average when they are grouped together I can tell there is a difference. (Note, this plot is not in ideal Bermuda growing conditions so it may look off due to limited sun and general neglect)

Here's another shot of some poorly maintained Yukon Bermuda vs. common Bermuda. The blades on the Yukon look much finer in person than the pictures. Just posting for the love of the grass and for @Tellycoleman.

And here's an update on the patch of Bermuda I found literally floating in stagnant pond water. So for our lawns we really have no excuses.

Nice pictures
Every week we have been having frost. We are getting 3 days of 80's and 1 day of below freezing. 1st time i have seen such weather. Thursday it was 28 degrees with frost in the morning and 83 degrees in the afternoon. Neighbors Zoysia Lawn and most of the warm season lawns are struggling. They start a little green up and the frost comes and turns there lawn yellow as can be. This cycle has continued for the last month. Most lawns are an odd yellow. Once my yukon greens up. it doesn't yellow up from a morning low temp or frost. Usually takes a couple days of cold temps to knock it back

Some common bermuda showing up in a stand of hybrid bermuda at the park by my house. Noticed this last year and it only gets worse as the year goes on.
