Alabama Bermuda sod. Newbie neee help

Something about your cultural practices or the area itself caused the sod to die to begin with. Continuously re-sodding would be an exercise in futility unless you figure out why the grass died to begin with. Not enough water, too much shade, construction debris...etc.
 
That is entirely 100% possible, but honestly I would check myself to see if that was the case or not. Screwdriver test would work very well in determining if that was the case. Bermuda will grow on almost anything. It may struggle in an area affected by compacted concrete, but it would still grow.

Something is affecting the drainage and that's what you would need to find and address first it sounds like.
