Adding top soil before aerating in the spring or after?

Hi guys,

I recently moved into a house that has Bermuda grass. It was struggling when I first moved in but I've been watering it regularly and pulling weeds every week so it has been improving significantly these past 2 months. I'm planning on aerating this spring but I would also like to add a third of an inch or so of good top soil to the grass, especially the areas that are showing exposed clay ground. My question is when should I add the top soil. Can I do it now or should I wait after I aerate in the spring since I'm going to seed it?

Thank you for your help.

I would probably wait until spring. We're rapidly approaching bermuda dormancy, and there will inevitably be some erosion and settling over the winter. I would do it after you aerate in the spring to get the maximum benefit.
