I plan to pull soil samples today to send to waypoint. Afterwards I have the itch to pre scalp at least to lower HOC & use the verticutter attachment on the Catalyst too early?
How are you liking that mower?

Scalped some more today until running out of gas. I think I’m up to 6,000 square feet scalped down to .3”, but will have to dethatch and then scalp again to start the year fresh. That celebration got insanely thick last year.

The unit is very well built and solid. Coming from my Mclane 25” I do miss the reel engagement handle & drive lever vs the 2 bars on the Catalyst if that makes sense. I find it odd having to pull one bar back and feathering the back drive bar forward and trying to move my hand out the way.

Cut quality is really great. Granted I didn’t get the lawn where I wanted to last year just due to schedule. So for a bit I was scalping in certain areas of my yard because the .75 on the Mclane was lower on Catalyst due to it being heavier.

This season I plan to verticut for the first time, scalp to 5/8 & maintain at 7/8. Hopefully then the yard stripes will start to burn in with the rear drum and not feel like it is floating.

I ran into Bermuda Mites last season with your help and the only thing I used was a few apps of bifenthrin. I really want to get the Catalyst cutting as low to dirt as possibly in my backyard.

That's great feedback! I'm looking to get one as I like the rubber rear drum due to my hilly yard. I also like the cartridges. Sounds like a good plan for this season, hopefully the weather will cooperate! 🤞🏼

Started up my mower & let it run, try to do once a week in the winter months (vs. letting it sit all winter). Picked up sticks/branches & cut some branches out of trees that were barely hanging on from the ice storm damage a couple weeks ago.

Hoping lawn completely thaws out this week to pull some soil samples for a soil test & hope to spray a pre-E before rain next weekend. I’m ready for spring & mowing!

I have Indaziflam on hand but went ahead and went with @Amoo316 MOA plan. Applied split preM app of Coastal instead since I still have a ton left. We have scheduled rain Weds/Thurs and by Sun we will be in the 70’s.

Spraying pre e tomorrow so it can get watered in. Forecast shows highs in the mid-upper 70s for the foreseeable future starting this weekend

Put down a year max application of prodiamine yesterday morning so it could get watered in. Maybe early, but soil temps were 51 and 53 the previous two days. This is my second season doing my own chemicals. I think I finally have my application rate on the sprayer mostly figured out, so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully I didn't just kill everything.

Put down some Atrazine.
Watching my Atrazine do its duty!! Clovers and all kinds or junk are dying off nicely. I sweeped a spary onto my neighbors property..... (think a buffer zone) of about 50% clover..... its dying off and the grass is popping up under it!!!

I think I like this stuff!!

Same here @FATC1TY . I got my dethatcher out yesterday. I was waiting until Valentine’s Day for my first app of pre-em, but I might go earlier now because of this warm weather. You applied yet?

Yesterday was beautiful here with high of 75, sunny and low winds so I took the afternoon to give a serious trim up to the 6 live oaks I have. The lawn will thank me! Within 2 weeks will be scalp and preemergent for me.
